Two quotations with the same "TPD" and price can be worlds apart. Compare scope, not headline numbers.

Must be in writing

  • Included scope — which sections and which auxiliaries.
  • Excluded scope — drives? electricals? boiler? installation?
  • Incoterm — FOB (loaded at port), CIF (to your port), EXW (ex-works). Changes total cost a lot.
  • Spares — what is included for start-up.
  • Commissioning — is supervision included? for how long?
  • Verification — inspection and test-run conditions.

Questions to ask

  • Is the price indicative or firm, and subject to what?
  • What is the validity period of the quote?
  • What is the delivery lead time and payment milestone structure?
  • Who handles export documents, insurance and local transport?
