Buying used machinery without inspection is the fastest way to lose money. Here is a field checklist LANCY uses when verifying a machine in China.

Before you travel

  • Original nameplate photo: maker, year, width, design speed, grade.
  • Recent run video at operating speed, not just static photos.
  • Maintenance and shutdown records.
  • Drawing package and spare-parts list if available.

On site

  • Dryer section: check for corrosion, cracks at journals, shell thickness.
  • Rolls: measure crown/wear, check covers and bearing houses.
  • Press section: felt condition, suction press integrity.
  • Wire section: breast roll, forming board, table rolls.
  • Electricals: drive condition, control cabinets, cabling.
  • Auxiliaries: vacuum pumps, hood, steam/condensate system.

Evidence chain

For a dismantled machine, require the full chain: pre-shutdown run video → full-machine photos → nameplate → itemised list. Without it, risk is hard to price.

LANCY coordinates on-site inspection as part of verification before any quotation or deposit.
